Blood 04:10
The more I run the farther away it seems What is green is always more than a yard away Art is a mean meditation, staring at a blank screen In between what we mean and the things we say I gotta stay one step ahead of a losing game I’m a slave to the pages I throw away To create, complicate, it’s the same damn thing Once it’s made, I’m too good to appreciate So I try to put a little piece of myself in Keep the pretty people listening Keep in mind all the negatives and positives Charges floatin' round the audience I’m biting my tongue But the words don’t come It’s in the air it’s in the atmosphere I can hear but I can’t tell what it’s telling me Too many sides to a story, all these colors and shapes I’m afraid if I love it they won’t agree Art is love, love is work It hurts to give yourself to it Art is work, work is love Reminding us why we do it Art is love, love is work It hurts to give yourself to it Art is work, work is love Forget yourself for the music So I try to put a little piece of myself in Keep the pretty people listening Keep in mind all the negatives and positives Charges floatin' round the audience I’m biting my tongue But the words don’t come

Genius 03:12
I can’t get to sleep, somethin’ over me I can feel it, can you feel it? Hear it whispering, I can hear it sing What's it sayin, what's it sayin? Get up half awake, put a pen to page No patience, overtaken Pouring like the rain, simply can’t explain Feel a rush like a river it's It’s here and gone Like thunder Could it be some kind of a voice or sign Visiting from somewhere outside It hits me like the salty crash of sand and tide Im thinking this genius isn’t mine Voice is breaking down, I can’t make a sound I can't say it, wanna say it Try to force it out, switch the words around Try to fake it, formulate it Just when I give up, think I tried hard enough Pullin nothin outta nothin I can feel it touch, I can feel it’s love All at once, like a runner It’s here and gone Like thunder Could it be some kind of a voice or sign Visiting from somewhere outside It hits me like the smash of matter when stars collide I’m thinking this genius isn’t mine

Hit, hit that switch Turn your heart in to make commission Take part in the mass tradition of Work when you wake Till your head falls to your conclusion Money comes before the movement of The people the sick and stressed out People who keep their heads down We don’t have any time to live The world won’t keep it’s own rotation We make up the whole foundation They tell us were getting what we give Everyday a mountain we will move but tell me what is it for? Inch after inch, till we just can’t climb anymore Losing all the love between the lines dividing rich and the poor Are we working to live, are we living to work more? Look straight ahead With a smile on to show your patience Climbing up the ladder like you’re told Love what you do If you don’t, fake a disposition Follow through with blind ambition for The future, it’s lookin’ sweet The future is all we need Cause sooner or later we’ll be free Not right now, I’m way too busy Counting down, the days go quickly Stick around, get down with the disease Everyday a mountain we will move but tell me what is it for? Inch after inch, till we just can’t climb anymore Losing all the love between the lines dividing rich and the poor Are we working to live, are we living to work more?

Pencils 03:31
Build a house and Buy a car and Find a body that’s warm Take that pill and Fill those arms un Til they’re tired and sore I need this every now and then I need this till I need again Just when I've finally found that thing, that high, everything I was looking for Just for a moment in time, I’m fine till the bells cry out cause I know in my core I want More Dress it up and Paint it red and Call it what you want Hunger talks and Hunger asks and I cannot turn it off It haunts me every now and then But it holds me, till it hurts again
5.
The Seed 03:35
Every single thing I read making me upset Scrolling through my daily feed on the internet What is it that people need? How do we reset? We all grew from the same seed, but we all forget That everybody can connect, but instead of that Were private and were separate, never overlap We walk around on the defense, are we holding back? What you give is what you get, and what we’ve got is Nothing, sitting in our bedrooms day and night, while we try To leave something beautiful behind How do we do that? Lock our doors and analyze, making notes and plans Then play it back a thousand times, till we understand Were beautiful with open eyes, live while you can But were expected to create, on a strict routine While living in an office space, staring at a screen We miss out while we sit and wait, when we haven’t seen What the world will help us make, because we all have Something, calling us to bring it to the light, so we try To leave something beautiful behind

about

Our new EP, Art:Work is out!

smarturl.it/anima-ep

These are songs for anyone who makes something.
They are songs that celebrate giving yourself to something that you love-music, art, agriculture, science, hula-hooping, whatever.
They are songs for anyone who’s put in work to get better at something just because they enjoy doing it.
These are songs for the people who try to turn their passions into a living. These are songs for the people who were told they can’t.
These are songs for anybody that questions the idea of a “real job.”
These are songs for anybody that questions the idea of an “artist."
